Low cost detached house build
Alton, Hampshire
Brief:
Create a low cost detached house in a very small and narrow town centre plot without over development of the site.
Achievement:
We identified the potential of the garden space of an ex-Local Authority town centre dwelling. The many difficult planning issues raised by this project were overcome and Planning and Building Regulation permissions were obtained for a small, detached house with 2 double bedrooms, a bathroom, a living room, a kitchen and WC. This was a first time buyer self-build project.
New dwellings in the green belt
Four Marks, Hampshire
Brief:
Johnson Designs helped to obtain planning permission for two substantial houses in the green belt after demolition of a bungalow and the removal of an old commercial yard.
Achievement:
Extending or building new dwellings in the green belt and the countryside can be fraught with many difficulties and stumbling blocks. Central and local government policies identify these areas as being inappropriate for development. We were able to meet the client requirement and obtained planning and building regulation approval through detailed project designs and negotiation with the local authority. We were also able to obtain the rare permission for the change of use of the site from commercial to housing and as a result two five bedroom houses were constructed.
